FAQs

Check out some of the answers to our ‘frequently asked questions’ on the event below so you can enjoy the occasion more.

When is the Event?

Saturday, 11th December 2021
4pm – 8pm

Where is it Located?

Ron Short Park, 28 Alicia Street, Southport, 4215

Does this Event cost anything to watch/attend?

This is a public event and admission is free. Tickets are not required but we ask that all attendees check in via the QR code, practice social distancing and follow all COVIDSafe requirements.

How can I support this event?

The best way to support the event is to support the local performers and businesses. This is all about ‘local Gold Coasters’ supporting ‘local Gold Coast businesses’.

Why not check out several of the restaurants/cafes or bars in the area and book a table with them directly online ‘before, during, after’ the event. Or purchase some products or other services from those within the event area. And at the same time, enjoy the free lakeside entertainment and activities.

Are any roads closed?

Yes – the event area includes parts of Alicia Street. There is a road closure in place along these roads from 9am (Car Parks) / 11am to 10pm (Road Closure) for setting up and the safety of attendees. More information of the proposed closure can be found here.

Where can I park?

This is a local event for the local community so we envisage most attendees will walk/scooter/bike to the event area. There is limited car parking around the venue so would encourage people to use public transport or ride share where possible.

Is public transport available?

Please see translink timetable here – https://translink.com.au/. Alternatively, taxi/uber/rideshare or make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event. Please plan accordingly. Please COVIDSafe travel here – https://translink.com.au/covid19.

Is the event COVIDSafe?

There will be a heap of COVIDSafe measures in place to ensure the event complies with the requirements set out by Queensland Health. Being COVIDSafe is a shared responsibility and we are asking all attendees to follow the rules and work together to ensure we can continue hosting events in a safe manner and support the local organisations and local entertainers.

Is there allocated seating?

No – but we ask you to socially distance between normal ‘social/household’ groups. Attendees are asked to practice 1.5m social distancing throughout. Security are onsite to assist.

How much space do I get?

We are encouraging attendees to do the right thing and limit the amount of space you need for your household/social group. The area is restricted to the current QLD Health Regs – which could one person to 1sqm; 2sqm; 4sqm; or other.

Can I bring a picnic blanket?

Yes. We encourage you to bring a blanket to relax and enjoy the entertainment. Please note – venue is a mixture of pathways and concrete so bring blankets and towels/cushions to help for comfort. The oval is on grass so space also available here. Please check weather conditions prior to ensure preferred options.

Can I bring a camping chair?

Yes – but if bringing a chair to watch the stage, we ask that you sit to the back (or side) of entertainment areas so as not to reduce the viewing of those behind you. Please ensure you take everything home with you that you bring, including any waste. Space is limited with the stage on street and surrounding stalls/businesses.

Can I bring food and drink?

We encourage attendees to support the many local food and drink businesses situated in and around the area by buying food and drinks locally on the day.

Can I bring alcohol?

No. This is a public event and alcohol is not permitted to be consumed onsite. QPS will be in attendance throughout the event.

Will security be onsite?

Yes. Security and ‘Social Distancing Officers’ will be in attendance. Attendees failing to follow the rules will be asked to leave the event area.

I’m keen to attend but but feel unwell, can I still come?

If you are feeling unwell, or have been in a hotspot, or in close contact with a confirmed case in the last 14 days, you should not attend the event. We also reserve the right to refuse entry. Please note that we also reserve the right to refuse entry if contact details (for contact tracing purposes) are not provided.

Can I bring my pet?

Attendees can bring their dogs but please ensure they’re in your control and on leads (unless within designated ‘unleashed’ areas). Please note, there will be a number of zones with lots of people, stalls, activities and loud noises from stage audio speakers, so find the best location that makes your furry friend comfortable and happy to enjoy the festive occasion too. The Gold Coast Dog Obedience Training Club – based at Ron Short Park – will also be in attendance offering information, advice and support.

Where is lost property?

If you find or lose something – please go to the Event Managers information tent on the day. After the event, any lost property will be kept at The Events Agency HQ for 21 days.

Might I be photographed or recorded at this event?

Yes, photographers and videographers may be present and by attending this event, you consent to be photographed, filmed and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, or reproduction of the photographs and/or recordings without restriction or compensation. Attendees who do not wish to be photographed or recorded should not enter the event zone.
